MORPHOLOGY:
The Samoyed is a medium sized working dog. To describe it the words noble, strong and eye catching come to mind. The Samoyed most of the times has a white double coat, but it can also come in  white with biscuit, or biscuit coat.  Its eye colour is only dark brown and the eyes are almond shaped. Lips, nose and eye lids are pigmented black. Its tail is long and plush and while walking it is carried curled, over the back.

FUR:
In general the Samoyed is particular about its own cleanliness. Their all-weather coat helps them stay clean and dry up to a point. No matter how muddy a Samoyed gets, it only takes a good brushing, when the coat has dried, to take it back to its previous state. In the summer, as most dogs, the Sammy  looses its under coat. This is not though a simple case. The term usually used to describe the process is "blowing the coat". This means that the entire under coat of the dog comes out in clumps, much like sheep’s wool (we never shear off the fur; it won’t come out the same again!). As a breed they are free from the usual doggy odor.

TEMPERAMENT:
It should be gentle, reliable and friendly, making him a good family companion to all ages. Inherited in the behaviour of the breed is an alert, outgoing, clownish personality. They have a kind temperament and disposition. A desire to please and an inclination to be stubborn and strong willed, with unrivalled independence, is perhaps a hang over of their evolution (being sledge dogs).

Each Samoyed has a nature and identity of its own. Samoyeds are not guard dogs nor fighters

It is affectionate to one and all, it is very energetic and has a great desire to run. An understanding of their heritage and use should give you an indication of the exercise they need.

EXERCISE:
Samoyeds do well in sledding activities, which provide a much needed outlet for their surplus energy. They enjoy the cold weather romps, they are agile and adventurous and they are fast runners

Without regular exercise the Samoyed will become a nuisance, doing anything to alleviate his boredom. The Samoyed will regulate his food intake. The dogs have a natural slow metabolism and so they need exercise to stimulate their appetite.
